Weekly Goals 14-12-20

Well, I did it.  I finished #CatholicSchoolLesbians yesterday.

It's kind of crappy and too short and will need a lot of editing, but there are some good moments in there (I hope).  I'm going to leave it alone for a few weeks now and then go back in and read the whole thing and make a plan for how to edit it into something worth reading.

But for now, I need to focus on Christmas and the holidays and what we are going to do with them.

What are your goals this week?

  1. Well, crappy is the the standard for a rough draft. You don't write good books, you edit them :)

  2. Congratulations, by the way. Maybe wait more than a few weeks. Tackle it from a completely fresh perspective, if you can wait that long. Give yourself time to rethink everything. If you only come up with a few changes just off the top of your head, tackle that. Worry about the rest of it in the editing. Chances are the bones of what you originally wrote will stand up. But just let yourself live with it for a while. And then forget about it, and then look at it again. What you need will be waiting for you. Anything more and it’s just needless headache. You should absolutely be your story’s biggest fan. If you’re not it needs trashing, not a rewrite.
