Happy Release Day to Cloaked in Fur

Book Release: CLOAKED IN FUR by T.F. Walsh

Well, a few weeks back, we revealed the cover for Tania's book, and here we are again, celebrating her release day!  And because this is a blog that looks as film as well as fiction, I just had to ask Tania to share the kind of movie that helped influence her writing of this book.  And she was nice enough to pop over here to answer!  So let's give a warm welcome to debut author, T. F. Walsh

Hi Kate, thanks for having me on your blog today.

What inspires your writing is a question that many writers get asked, and asked a lot. But one thing I have never been asked is what colors your writing? Inspiration for a story or scene is important, but the influences for your characters and settings are often a reflection of your style. I like to think that the way I color my stories is what truly makes my writing unique to me. The color of my stories tends to be on the dark side, with a bent towards paranormal and definitely a pinch of fantasy and romance thrown in. If I had to pinpoint what influenced this style, I would probably have to say it was the movies I watched growing up.

In my early teens, I spent way too much time watching movies. And more often than not I was watching the same movies over and over again. And despite being too young, I found myself drawn to the classical horror genre of movies. My favourites where Clive Barker's Nightbreed, The Lost Boys, American Werewolf in London and Bram Stoker's Dracula amongst many others. These movies were dark and paranormal fantasies but with a twist of wry humor sprinkled throughout. Just how I like my movies.

  1. You know I still haven't seen American Werewolf in London. I should now that I'm an American living in London. I loved The Lost Boys. Own the DVD and watched it a few months ago.

  2. I agree with your comments about experiences coloring writing. I haven't seen any of those movies. Not surprising really because I'm such a wuss! Don't like to be scared too much.
