It's the end of the week so it's time to celebrate the small things!
So what am I celebrating this week?
I did what I set out to do and wrote 20K of a new book in four days. Some of it is probably geabage (I haven;t gone back to read anythng I wrote yet) and a lot of it is random scenes I'll have to figure out a place for, but I wrote. ANd as I write, I'm getting to know my characters more and am figuring out how they act around each other. My MC has surprised me by being a science nerd which is causing me some issues because I'm not and I keep discovering things she'd know that I don't. There are a lot of highlighted sections I'll need to fill out later. Luckily my other was a high school chemistry teacher for most of her career, so I'm sure she'll know the kinds of thing Frankie's doing in the lab.
Unfortunately, I suspect my momentum is going to slow a little now because I go on tour tomorrow for a week. All over the South Island which will be interesting. I haven't been to Dunedin or Queenstown since the '90s and have never been to Oamaru, so I'm looking forward to seeing some more of the country. The downside is, I won't be able to get to the new book again for a week or more. My goal is to finish it over the summer when I have a whole month off.
What are you celebrating this week?
