Celebrating the Small Things again...

This post is part of VikLit's blog hop, Celebrate the Small Things. Head on over there to join up!

So, what am I celebrating this week?

Between the #PitchMas blog contest and the Twitter contest, STUMPED wound up with 6 requests!  So I'm quietly thrilled about that.  Maybe my ugly little baby isn't quite as abhorrent as I thought.

One of the girls who works with me has read my last three books as I wrote them, giving me invaluable feedback on the way.  I gave her the first 8 chapters of my new one to read - the one I think is boring, pointless and basically complete and utter rubbish - and she reckons it's the best thing I've written yet.  So that's given me a boost.

We had a 5.7 earthquake here this morning, and I was at work in a building that has a yellow sticker for being unsafe in earthquakes, but the only damage was a chair falling over.  And I was standing right by the shelf we keep all the glasses on.  Not a single one fell!

What small things are you celebrating this week?

  1. 6 requests is amazing. Congrats on that!!

And it's always nice when a reader enjoys what you're not confident about. It's most definitely a boost.

  2. Wow! Congrats on your 6 requests, that's awesome! I have to admit, my last ms I thought was dull and boring and my daughter said the same thing, that it was my best writing to date. Needless to say, that ms awarded my a Literary Agent. Good Luck Kate!!

  3. Congrats on the requests and the thumbs-up from your reader! And thank goodness the quake passed with no damage. We have a fault running through the Red Sea and about once a year it shifts. Scary! :O

  4. Wow glad you weren't hurt in the earthquake, and GO YOU on the reqs! That's awesome.

  5. Congrats on the requests that's brilliant! Glad you didn't suffer in the earthquake must be scary.

  6. Congratulations on your requests, I hope they turn out well for you!

I'm celebrating being back to writing, and taking it one day at a time.

  7. Six requests! Yay! Glad you weren't hurt by the quake.

I'm celebrating this week leaving and taking the heat wave with it. :)

  8. It's always good to have someone who's there to put your head on straight. Glad the quake didn't damage you or your unsafe building. :) Writer’s Mark

  9. Yikes to an earthquake!
But wonderful news with all the requests!!!

  10. Hiya, Kate, long time no see! Sorry I've been MIA...I feel like I've been off the blogging track ever since the A to Z Challenge this year.

Anyway, congrats on the requests and great feedback and hope there's no more earthquaking going on over there!
