Weekly goals 18-8-14

My goal for this week is to get through revising another 10 chapters of my book.  More if I can.  I've already been through this section once, so I figure any changes I make now are going to be stylistic and wording changes, not big plot ones.  So it's entirely possible I can do more than 10.  But if I keep my goals low and realistic, I won't be too disappointed if life gets in my way again and I don't achieve everything I want to.

I feel like the pacing in this book may be off.  I spend about 4 chapters on one night because that one night is very significant and sets up everything that comes afterward.  Yet from that one night, the pace speeds up and the entire book takes place over a year.  Is this normal?  I can't even tell anymore.

What are your goals for the week?  Are you keeping them manageable or shooting for the stars?

  1. Definitely trying to keep them managable. I'm hoping to start planning for NaNo in November. Wish me luck!

  2. I'm going on break next week, so my goals are trying not to take off before then.

Personally, I don't think it's a big deal to spend four chapters on one very significant part. It's more important that things happen than that they happen over a set time period.

  3. I'm doing a few minor plot changes right now and look forward to the next revision phase, where I'm tinkering with smaller things. Good luck with your goals.

I think pacing has more to do with the flow of a novel, rather than when actual events happen.
