Celebrate the Small Things 30-9-16

So what am I celebrating this week?

It's the weekend!

I know I had two days off at the beginning of the week, but I don't think I have ever been so glad it's Friday in my life.  After attending a conference all of last weekend, then spending two days helping my friend, I don't feel like I got much of a break, even if I wasn't at work.

And then when I got back, of course the work had piled up, so it's been a difficult couple of days there too.

So weekend!

I finished Sam and Amy (still haven't thought of a better title), but while going through the manuscript with a fine-toothed comb, I figured out a few problems with Amy's character.  So now I need to do another pass through with that in mind to see if I can clear a few things up.  I hope to be done within a week.  The changes won't be big, just a line here or there.

So if anyone is up for doing a read for me, I should have something to send by the end of next week.  I'd really appreciate some fresh eyes on this one.

Weekly goals 26-9-16

Still finishing off Sam and Amy (and please…  A real title soon!).  It's close.  End of the week close, I think.  Or maybe I just hope…

Anyway.  That's the plan.

I've been at a conference all weekend and am now on vacation for a couple of days, taking care of a friend who is having a rough time at the moment.  It's quite luxurious to be sitting here typing this at 10:45am, rather than dealing with my usual Monday morning e-mail onslaught.

I might even get some writing done…  Stranger things have happened.

Celebrate the Small Things 23-9-16

So what am I celebrating this week?

I finished my revisions!  Well, close enough anyway.  I now need to print out the MS and read the whole thing through to check for continuity and timeline glitches, and to see if it flows together as a whole.  I'm still a little nervous about two chapters just before the halfway mark, and I want to see if I can shift some of their work into other places, but we'll see…

But while I'm here, does anyone want to beta read for me?  I'd love some fresh eyes on this one toward the end of next week.

I'm going to a conference in Auckland tomorrow morning for the weekend, so I don't really get a break from work.  But when it finishes on Sunday afternoon, I'm going to spend a couple of days with my bestie who lives up there.  She's been going through a hard time recently, so I'm looking forward to seeing her and doing what I can to lighten her load.

It's the last day of school for my kids today, so I have two weeks of vacation to try and fill up for them. Luckily their grandparents are around this time, although busy as they always are.  But I've only had to put them into the hated school holiday program for 3 days this time around.
