Weekly Goals 14-11-16

It seems rather petty to be trying to set goals this week, given we were woken just after midnight by a 7.5 earthquake.  Wellington, where I live, seems to have gotten off lightly and despite having to evacuate because of tsunami warnings last night, we are back home.  I've even cleaned up all the damage from the quake.

As you can see, it was nothing serious.  Only two of the cases broke too! Amazing really.

Our friends in the South Island haven't been so lucky.  So I'm thinking of them today.  And working from home.

I swear, this November seems to be conspiring against me finishing NaNo.  Between the US election, way too much work, and this earthquake, I'm wondering what else fate is going to throw my way to keep me from hitting my 50K goal.

But I'm not giving in.  I'm writing garbage, but I'm going to finish this 50K. It won't be a finished book, but I figure I can finish it in December, albeit at a slightly more leisurely pace.  Or maybe not… I may have enough momentum going at the end of the month to keep working at my 2K per day pace.  We shall see…

So my goal this week is to say screw the world and its attempts to derail my writing plans.  I'm going to hit that 50K despite all this garbage, so by the end of the week, I'm going to have soared past the 30K mark, and be well on my way to 40K.

What are your goals this week?

  1. Glad you came through the earthquake all right.

And I always end up feeling like November is conspiring against me when I'm NaNoWriMo-ing. Never had an earthquake disruption, though.

Best of luck to you in reaching that 50K mark. My goal is just to make some headway in my never-ending revision list.

  2. How scary. I heard about that earthquake and wondered about you and your family. I'm glad it wasn't worse. Stay strong! Don't let the world stop you!

  3. Earthquakes can be terrifying. I'm so glad there wasn't any greater damage!

You know, that's how I felt about my two NaNo's. Utter tripe. That's the reason I don't do NaNo. If I'm going to spend the time writing, I'm going to do it in the most productive way.
