Celebrate the Small Things 7/2/14

This post is part of VikLit's blog hop, Celebrate the Small Things. Head on over there to join up!

So, what am I celebrating this week?

The kids went back to school today after what has felt like a VERY LONG summer vacation.  I love them both dearly, but after 6 weeks of almost uninterrupted time together, they were beginning to get on each others nerves.  I'm looking forward to them stopping the endless arguing that's been going on the last week or so.

Really odd beers....  There are a lot of local craft breweries around and my partner and I have been sampling all the different beers.  Tonight we tried a 'Festive Fruit Ale' which kind of tasted like beer flavored fruit mince and a 'Pinot-Gris Lager' which tasted kind of like malty wine.  I wouldn't rate either in my top beers ever, but they were both very interesting.

And really, that's about all I can think of to celebrate this week.  After being away for a week, work has been crazy and there are far too many issues and crises going on.  Every day I feel like I have to put out a new fire springing up somewhere.  But the less we talk about that, the better...

What are you celebrating this week?

  3. We're in the middle of winter right now. But I get the ready to send kids back to school thing. I know a lot of parents don't want summer vacation to end, but it seems like those are mostly parents that work. Most stay-at-home moms are usually ready to send their kids back.

So you're summer vacation is only 6 weeks? That is so short. We have about 2.5 months here. And that's pretty typical for the US. Do you guys have bigger breaks throughout the school year too? like 1-2 weeks (or more) every once in a while?

  4. Yes. There are 3 breaks of 2 weeks through the year. One every few weeks, it seems....

  7. It'll be great for you to get back into a routine now. Beer tasting sound good, too. The simple things are the best to celebrate.
Thanks for visiting my blog - I think it's the first time for someone from New Zealand. Living in the north of England means that I'm desperate for some sunshine at the moment.

  8. I've never seen anything like a pinot gris lager. I'm not a huge fan of beer, but if I ever see it, I might have to try it.

  9. I miss summer holidays. I would be able to make great use of all that time right now.
The beers sound interesting, if a little strange.
