Old people holding hands.
The grandpa who rides his grandson's scooter home after dropping him at school.
Finding bargains when shopping.
The smell of a new book when you crack it open.
The sound of my kids laughing when they don't think I'm listening.
Good news from friends.
Plunging my face into a mound of laundry fresh from the dryer on a cold day.
Sinking into a hot bath.
The sound of champagne corks popping.
Acceptance emails from publishers and requests from agents.
The end of a class at the gym.
And that's just a few. What things make you smile?
Your blog makes me smile, too. Thank you for sharing your joy in the little things in life. Happiness is contagious.
ReplyDeleteI hope it is! I catch everything that comes along. Must be having kids....
ReplyDeleteWow. I feel all Zen . . . Happy . . . relaxed . . .
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the sound of my kids whispering together - even though I know something really BAD's about to happen. It's just too cute.
Oh yes... That's the soft sound of conspiracy.
ReplyDeleteThe thing that's making me smile most often lately is knowing that even in the autumn of your life you can find love. Seeing my mom so happy at age 62, after years of only having Mr. Wrongs, and it seems like this guy is finally Mr. Right. She's known him for 3 years but they've only been dating a few weeks. I just love how cute they are together and how good he is to her. That's making me really happy right now. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE this post Kate. Totally agree with you and you had some great things that make you smile.
ReplyDeleteMine is when my girls play together. When they say "I love you" to each other.
When my husband laughs.
Reading a good book.
Just to name a few.
Awesome post.
Kristin, that is a good one! So good to know that you can find love at any stage.
ReplyDeleteAnd Kelley, when your kids play nicely together, it's incredible. I don't know how only children survive...
I love this, and I have to say that a few of these I share with you. So this blog made me smile.
ReplyDeleteWhat also makes me smile is when my Mum laughs, a hug, and writing that one line you want to share with the world.
Oh yes... Writing something that I know is super special always makes me smile too.
