Despite challenging myself to get back into my writing routine last week, I didn't do that well on it. I did work three nights, but three is not five. So this week, I need to really settle down and get into it.
I think the big problem is not having one big project to knuckle down to. Working on the ghostwriting project is sporadic because I need to do interviews with the subject, send the chapters off to her to make sure I've got things right, wait for them to come back and tweak.
And I don't have a project of my own to write. I'm just tweaking and revising and editing previously written books to get them ready to submit. So there isn't the same urgency to write as I have when I'm working on a first or second draft of something new and I want to watch my word count climb.
So this week, my goal is to try and be better at getting my butt in chair and actually writing or editing or revising.
What are your goals this week?
All the best with your plans. No goals for the week, just go with the flow. Have a nice week.
ReplyDeleteThe tweaking and editing phase can drag on forever it seems. The big project idea makes sense. Hope next week is better.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing quite like the thrill of writing something new, is there?
ReplyDeleteMyi goal this week is to finish a final edit on a collection of stories that has been accepted and to provide a list of acknowledgements, since a lot of sources gave me good information in the research I needed for these stories. This is the kind of task I tend to put off forever, so this week is the week! Hopefully, on Friday I can say "done!" when I post on Celebrate the Small Things. (I've gone missing these past two weeks due to our travels.)
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely harder for me when I have to move around between a lot of different projects. As long as you keep trying, you'll get there. :)
