Celebrate the Small things again

This post is part of VikLit's blog hop, Celebrate the Small Things. Head on over there to join up!

So, what am I celebrating this week?

I won another pitch contest and when I sent Stumped to the requesting agent, she wrote right back saying how excited she was to read my book.  You'd better believe that put a smile on my face!

Brandy  gave me an award for reading her blog (which I found through the blog hop BTW).  So thanks, Brandy!

I managed to find time to see a couple of films in the Festival and they were both good.  If you get to see the Mexican/Spanish film La Jaula de Oro (the Golden Cage), don't miss it.  It's a really unique, fresh take on a road movie, focusing on a group of Guatemalan teens trying to make it into the USA.

And while I haven't got a whole lot of writing done, I have hit the 25K mark.  I'm still concerned the pacing is off, but I guess I can fix that up later.  For now I'm focusing on writing through to the end.  I know I always make vast changes in my second draft, but somehow I forget that while I'm worrying my way through the first.

What are you celebrating this week?

  1. All of us worry our way through the first draft (and the second, and the third...) even those of use who are plotters and think we've got it all organized. I just realized my monster was too average looking (weird thought that a monster is average, huh?!) and I've stopped writing while I ponder what I want to do about it. Congrats on 25k! Keep writing! :-)

  7. I'd say having an agent is cause for celebration! You are welcome for the award and I'll add that film to my To Watch list!
